My favorite folders disappeared in Outlook the other day after a crash. It really bugged me because I like using favorites for my most used folders. It took a little searching but I found this post http://blog.palehorse.net/2007/09/26/outlook-ate-my-favorite-shortcuts/ which solved the problem.
Start > Run > OUTLOOK.EXE /resetnavpane worked great for me.
